CPS Gets $888,000 Grant for Arabic

More Chicago Public Schools students will have an opportunity to learn Arabic thanks to a grant from the U.S. government.

Mayor Daley visited Durkin Park School on Monday. It’s one of seven elementary and three high schools that offer classes to students who want to learn the language.

The department of education has given CPS a grant for $888,000 to extend the program to three additional schools.

Since its launch 3 years ago, the Arabic language program has grown to serve 2,000 Chicago public school students across the city.
