The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has translated a sermon delivered last month at a San Francisco mosque by Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Sidiqqi. According to his website, Sidiqqi lectures in Islamic studies and Arabic at three Bay Area community colleges: Chabot; Mission; and Ohlone, and Berkeley’s Graduate Theological Union’s Center for Islamic Studies.
Betraying the Islamist sympathies he shares with other Middle East studies academics who have recently mourned the death of former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, Sidiqqi took the lunacy to new heights. Claiming that the Muslim Brotherhood leader was only “trying to help humanity by bringing the truth of Islam” but was prevented by “the forces of evil,” Sidiqqi then ranted that Morsi had been “killed” by “Zionist agents” who were “working for Satan.”
Such conspiracy theories are common in the Middle East and now they’re becoming increasingly common in America’s colleges and universities.
