The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between San Francisco State University (SFSU) and An-Najah University in the West Bank that was brokered by anti-Israel professor Rabab Abdulhadi—and opposed by Campus Watch/Middle East Forum—has now led to a proposed study abroad trip to "Palestine."
In addition to Najah, SFSU students would visit Al-Quds, Birzeit, Hebron, Bethlehem, and Jenin universities. Given the well-documented—most recently, by CW Fellow A.J. Caschetta—promotion of terrorism and anti-Semitism at Palestinian universities, this is disturbing news.
Fortunately, the proposal is being held up by bureaucratic bickering and, potentially, by Abdulhadi's discrimination lawsuit and "labor grievance" against SFSU, but the announcement itself is ominous. If one thinks academics like Abdulhadi and student groups like the General Union of Palestinian Students are encouraging bigoted, bellicose behavior at SFSU, just wait until students return from the West Bank.
