“When Marx Meets Islam” with Craig Considine

When Marx Meets Islam

Is the most dangerous political alliance of the twenty-first century one of ideologies rather than nations? Dr. Craig Considine will discuss his new book, When Marx Meets Islam: Navigating Radical Ideologies in Defense of the West, an urgent and unsparing critique of the convergence between Marxism and Islamism. He will examine how this alliance is fueled by a shared antipathy toward Enlightenment values and animosity toward the United States, Israel, and other democracies, and what it means for the West.

Craig Considine is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Rice University, where he has taught since 2015, and a Writing Fellow at the Middle East Forum. The author of ten books on religion, ideology, and interfaith relations, he specializes in the sociology of religion, radical ideologies, and dialogue across Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. His work has been reviewed in The Wall Street Journal and translated into French and Indonesian. His latest book is When Marx Meets Islam (Pitchstone, 2026).
