Far-left Democrat Congressman Keith Ellison is reportedly one of the frontrunners to replace disgraced Sen. Al Franken in Minnesota, who announced his resignation Thursday after several women accused him of sexual harassment.
A senior Minnesota Democrat close to the governor of the state, Mark Dayton (who is in charge of appointing Franken’s replacement until a November 2018 election), told CNN that Ellison, Democratic Rep. Tim Walz, and Lt. Gov. Tina Smith are among the leading contenders to take Franken’s seat.
Ellison appears to be the clear favorite to replace Franken amongst the progressive, Islamist-appeasing wing of the Democratic Party.
The Minnesota congressman has consistently maintained radical positions throughout his tenure in Congress, and even before working full-time in Washington, D.C. Over the years, he’s developed a reputation as someone who entertains vast government conspiracies, and has remained steadfast in his support for fringe Islamic groups.
As an up-and-coming politician, he used to writearticles under the byline “Keith X Ellison,” in homage to Malcolm X (who became famous for his advocacy for the use of violence during the Civil Rights era).
In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, the Minnesota Congressman entertainedfalse-flag theories about the attacks. He then took to comparingPres. George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler.
Amidst Israel’s war against the terrorist group Hamas in 2014, Ellison wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post calling on the Jewish state to end their blockade of the terrorist-controlled Gaza Strip, which would allow the jihadi enterprise to have easier access to advanced weapons and further aid.
More recently, Ellison has taken to embracing radical Islamist organizations such as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Hamas-tied organization that has officially been declared a terrorist organization in the UAE, and has headlineda fundraiser for Hamas-tied individuals. Moreover, Ellison has close tiesto the Nation of Islam and its virulently anti-Semitic leader, Louis Farrakhan.
And just this week, he voted along with over 50 Democrats to impeach President Trump, for reasons unclear.
The Minnesota congressman’s tenure on Capitol Hill (and his activism prior) proves just how far left the Democratic Party has jolted in recent years, as Keith “X” is on the possible precipice of a Democratic Senate seat in Washington.
