Muzzammil S. “Mo” Hassan’s trial for the beheading of his estranged wife in the office of their cable television station was put off today until at least mid-March by Erie County Judge Thomas P. Franczyk to give his lawyer more time to prepare his planned insanity-linked defense.
The 44-year-old Pakistan-born businessman and father of four has claimed he was emotionally out of control when he beheaded his estranged third wife, Aasiya Zubair Hassan, 37, last Feb. 12.
The judge ordered further proceedings in the case Jan. 22.
Hassan turned himself in to Orchard Park police about an hour after his wife was slain in the office of the Muslim-oriented Bridges cable television station they co-founded. He remains behind bars.
