Political bust up over inquiry into Huddersfield grooming gang

Excerpt:

Home Secretary Sajid Javid is to be asked to investigate the child sexual exploitation scandal that has tarnished the reputation of Huddersfield.

But there is concern that expanding the scope to look at the whole of England will effectively dilute scrutiny of what occurred in Kirklees.

20 men have been jailed this year over the grooming and sexual abuse of vulnerable, isolated and underage girls as young as 11 or 12.

The men were found guilty of child sex offences including rape, inciting child prostitution and abduction of a child.

They were sentenced to more than 200 years in prison. Reporting restrictions were lifted last month.
