A man subjected to homophobic abuse in east London has contacted police after a public appeal.
Five people have been arrested by Scotland Yard detectives investigating a string of incidents in east London over the weekend of January 12 and 13.
Officers had appealed for a man seen in a YouTube video entitled “Muslim vigilantes in London harass and taunt gay male” to come forward on Thursday.
The man contacted officers earlier on Monday, police said.
The Scotland Yard spokesman said he was currently being interviewed by officers at an east London police station.
Four men aged 29, 25, 22 and 19 and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and public order offences.
They have been bailed until March.
