Subway has confirmed it will not be changing its menu at restaurants in Cheltenham after an announcement that the fast food chain was removing ham and bacon from 185 stores in the UK.
The move is to introduce halal meat instead “following strong demand from Muslim customers”.
But it has been confirmed that the three Subway sandwich shops in Cheltenham will keep its traditional menu.
A spokesman for Subway said: “We can confirm that the three Subway stores in Cheltenham serve the traditional Subway menu.
“There are Subway stores in the UK and Ireland that serve the traditional Subway menu and there are some stores that offer a Halal menu to accommodate consumer demand.
“Customers have many choices as to which store they want to visit since there are almost 1,700 Subway stores in the UK.
“The small proportion of Halal specific menu stores that carry turkey based items in lieu of pork products and have done so since 2007.”
