CAIR branch boasts of getting DVD censored

District officials assure ‘Obsession’ won’t be used in class

The Pennsylvania state affiliate of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a national organization with extensive ties to terrorism and extremism, is boasting it has convinced a school district there to censor the DVD “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West.”

The Pennsylvania chapter said in a press announcement that officials had written to the superintendent of the Council Rock School District “expressing concerns about a hate-filled video.”

Said CAIR-PA director of civil rights Marwa El-Turky, “‘Obsession’ is a vehicle for promoting anti-Muslim bigotry that seeks to blur the distinction between violent extremism and mainstream Islam.”

CAIR of Pennsylvania said in response, Superintendent of Schools Mark J. Klein confirmed that the course using the video had been eliminated, and “along with the elimination of this course, we will represent to you that this film will not be used in any others in Council Rock.”

“We appreciate the school district’s prompt and appropriate response and hope that any future courses touching on Islam will use accurate and balanced educational materials,” wrote El-Turky.

The video, however, is an award-winning documentary that reveals actual footage from Arabic television that rarely is seen in the West. It also includes interviews with former terrorists.

So clear and accurate is its exposition of a terrorist’s ideology and methodology, the DVD already has been used by numerous military and security personnel for training.

“Obsession” previously was censored by The Detroit Free Press, which turned down a paid insertion of the video, announcing it “would have been potentially divisive and counterproductive to the good work the local Arab and Muslim organizations and individuals are doing.”

The video also was the target of censorship campaigns at Pace University, State University of New York-Stonybrook, Georgia Tech and in the community of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

But Glenn Beck, formerly of CNN and how with Fox News, called it “one of the most important films of our time.”

And Joel Surnow, executive producer of “24,” said, the DVD “should serve as a wakeup call to the free world to confront the threat now, before it is too late.”

The DVD features interviews with Sir Martin Gilbert, Alan Dershowitz, Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, a former federal prosecutor, a former Hitler Youth commander, as well as anti-Islamist Muslims including the daughter of a terrorist, a former Palestinian terrorist, a Palestinian journalist, and the director of the Palestinian Media Watch.

It was awarded Best Feature Film at the Liberty Film Festival and a Special Jury Award at the WorldFest Houston.

WND previously has reported that the national CAIR organization has extensive ties to terrorism and extremism.

WND has reported at least 14 CAIR officials have been caught up in terror investigations, and U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., warned, “Groups like CAIR have a proven record of senior officials being indicted and either imprisoned or deported from the United States.”

CAIR itself had been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in an alleged scheme to funnel $12 million to the terrorist group Hamas. In the Holy Land Foundation case, federal prosecutors also listed CAIR as a member of the U.S. branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, a worldwide jihadist movement that gave rise to Hamas, al-Qaida and other terrorist groups.

The makers of “Obsession” also now have produced a followup, called The Third Jihad: Radical Islam’s Vision for America.

It is narrated by devout Muslim American M. Zuhdi Jasser, who opens with the following statement: “This is not a film about Islam. It is about the threat of radical Islam. Only a small percentage of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims are radical. This film is about them.”

The film reveals that radical Islamists driven by a religiously motivated rejection of Western values, cultures, and religion are engaging in a multifaceted strategy to overcome the Western world.

Featured in the DVD are clips of Muslim leaders in the U.S. openly declaring their intent to overthrow the Constitution and replace it with Shariah law, including Abdul Alim Musa, an imam in Washington D.C., who boldly states, “On our website we talk about the Islamic State of North America by 2050.”

The film examines a secret, 15-page “master plan” document uncovered by the FBI that reveals the plans of the radicals already in America.
