Germany will spend around £68.2bn on migration-related issues over the next four years, according to a leaked document from the country's finance ministry.
The figure includes £27.1bn package of measured aimed at tackling the issues that cause people to leave their homes and make their way to Europe in the first place.
The leaked report, published in Der Spiegel magazine, estimated federal spending of around £61.2bn plus an extra £7bn the federal government agreed to transfer to states and local communities to cover their costs through 2021.
Social payments to migrants in Germany are projected to account for about £18.3bn through 2022, with another 11.3bn to be spent on language courses and other measures promoting better integration.
