Wilson Center to Host Press Conference with Dr. Haleh Esfandiari

WASHINGTON—The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars will host a press conference with Haleh Esfandiari , director of the Wilson Center’s Middle East Program, on Monday, September 10, 2007, from 12 to 1 p.m. She will be accompanied by Michael Van Dusen, deputy director of the Wilson Center.

Esfandiari was incarcerated in Tehran’s Evin prison on May 8, 2007, on allegations of endangering Iranian national security. She spent more than 100 days in prison before she was released on bail, and was finally allowed to leave the country on September 2nd. Dr. Esfandiari returned to the United States on September 6, 2007. She will make a brief statement and then respond to questions. This event will also be live webcast.
