Leaders of the Modern Language Association were hoping that this year’s Delegate Assembly would not be as divisive or chaotic as last year’s session, where debate over a resolution to criticize Israel at times featured personal attacks, disputes over the rules and plenty of anger -- both from those urging the MLA to condemn Israel and those opposed to the idea.
