To those who would have us believe that Barack Obama is the answer to our every need and hope and that he is some kind of messiah, let’s review the facts.
Obama claimed that he would not use public campaign funds. He’s gone back on his word.
Obama claimed that Bill Ayers, a well-known and -documented terrorist, was only an acquaintance when in fact according to the New York Times on Oct. 4, he had an ongoing relationship with him.
Obama claimed that he had only an aquaintance kind of relationship with Tony Rezco, a convicted criminal, when in fact according to FBI records, Obama had weekly meetings with him.
Obama claimed to have never in 20 years heard Jeramiah Wright make negative statements about white America; an obvious misrepresentation. He also denied to group of Jewish voters last week that he had any politcal associations with Rashid Khalide, a past employee of the PLO during its terrorist reign, and a hater of Israel. He claimed that his associations were merely professional when in fact Obama sat on the board of the Woodsfund Foundation that gave money in 2001 and 2002 to the Arab American Action Network which was co-founded and directed by Khalide and his wife. Khalide held a fundraiser for Obama in 2002. Obama stated in that many he had sat many times at “Rashid’s” dining room table and had conversations that had changed his thinking. Could he have been swayed about Israel’s sovereignty?
In the first debate with John McCain, Obama said that he would never meet with leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea without “preparations” at lower levels, the debate in February clearly reveals that he stated, “I would” to the question of meeting with those leaders within 12 months without “any preconditions.” Another misrepresentation.
On the issue of Iraq, Obama claimed that the surge would not work and then on July 14, stated that he always knew that the surge would work. He also claimed that he voted against funding for the troops because the bill did not include a time line for withdrawal, when in fact he voted against funding for troops because he wanted them removed immediately.
Barack Obama claimed that he had a record of voting with Republicans when the only bill he ever sponsored was with Chuck Lugar, which failed. The record shows that he voted 97 percent of the time with Democrats and that he has the most liberal voting record in the Senate. How many lies so far?
A truly disturbing fact of his voting record is that as senator from Illinois, he voted four times in three years to ban legislation that would have saved the lives of babies that managed to survive the abortion process. His position on March 2001 was that if these babies were allowed to live thay would automatically be entitled to the protection that a full term baby would receive and thereby have the effect of banning all abortions.
In 2001 and 2002 he was the only legislator to argue against the Illinois Born Alive Act. I remember hearing him say when asked at the Saddleback Church debate that he was not qualified, and he was not high enough on the pay scale to decide when life began. His voting records indicate that he does indeed regard himself as being able to determine when life begins, and it is obviously not at conception.
Obama stated that he was pro Second Amendment after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the rights of citizens to keep and bear arms. But, he voted to ban the use of firearms for home self-defense and the manufacturing, sells and possession of all hand guns in the United States. He also recently stated that he has always been for oil and nuclear development but he voted against any increases for oil exploration in the last three years.
Obama has done nothing to stop the actions of the teacher’s unions which profess to be the voice for all teachers. When I receive my CTA and NEA magazines in the mail I am disturbed at their liberal agenda which lines itself up with gay marriage, abortion rights and the disparaging of conservative viewpoints, and yet insists on taking $90 per month out of my salary to perpetuate their agenda.
I submit the Obama is not a messiah, but a working counterpart. Let’s not forget that he has also claimed to be a Christian but has entirely aligned himself with radically liberal agenda and radical organizers. If he is elected we can check our constitutional liberties at the polling doors.
