NYT Responds to MESA’s Opposition to Publishing ISIS Documents

The New York Times, responding to the controversy created by the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) over the paper’s reporting on ISIS documents recovered from Iraq, points out that “These documents were abandoned, left to the elements, scattered on the ground, and in some cases were being burned.” Apparently, MESA disagrees with the NYT‘s stated aim “to preserve and protect the documents to ensure that the public would have the chance to understand ISIS from inside ISIS.”
