New Degrees Offered to Include Arabic Language and Culture

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education approved on Thursday three new degrees for the 2011-12 academic year -- including a bachelor of arts degree in Arabic language and culture, which will be taught by faculty at California University of Pennsylvania and offered online to students at all 14 state-owned universities.

Students who enroll in the Arabic program will earn the 30 credits required for the major from California University. Students will be able to complete their general education requirements and electives at their home campus.

The System Board on Thursday also approved a bachelor of science program in industrial and engineering administration at Edinboro University; and a bachelor of science degree in computer engineering at Shippensburg University.
