France Requests Canadian Court to be Handed Over Lebanese Suspect [on Hassan Diab]

The Supreme Court in Ontario would examine next June the French request of recovering Lebanese-Canadian citizen, Hassan Diab, suspected of involvement in Copernicus Street bombing in Paris in 1980. The definite date would be determined on Friday once the attorneys in law make sure witnesses would be able to appear before said Court along the three weeks of hearings, set to start on June 14, 2010.

The Court gave France a 45-day delay, until March 29, to provide it with new clues that would evidence its request to be handed Diab over. The Court seating judge stressed that no further delay would be given anymore as France has requested the postponement of the hearing three times since past October.

In fact, Hassan Diab was arrested in November 2008 by virtue of a judicial verdict, and then released in March 2009. Should he be indicted by France, he would be condemned to life sentence.
