A lawyer for an Ottawa man accused in the deadly terrorist bombing of a French synagogue has appealed a judge’s decision sending the contents of two computers to French investigators.
Hassan Diab and his common-law wife, Rania Tfaily, are appealing to the Ontario Court of Appeal a ruling sending the contents of the two computers to France, where authorities are seeking to have Diab extradited for the 1980 bombing in Paris that killed four.
Last week, Justice Robert Maranger ruled the RCMP did not violate Tfaily’s Charter rights to unreasonable search and seizure and ordered that the computers, seized during separate searches of Tfaily’s Carleton University office and Dynes Road condominium, be sent to France.
