Yuval David on Dangerous Liaisons: The LGBTQ Movement’s Dance with Jihad

By Marching in Tandem with Islamists and Yelling ‘Free Palestine,’ LGBT Activists Defend Terror Organizations and Demonize Zionists and Israel

Yuval David, Emmy award-winning journalist, filmmaker, and actor, as well as a prominent advocate for Jewish and LGBTQ rights, spoke to a June 12 Middle East Forum Podcast (video). The following summarizes his comments:

The majority of Jews in attendance at the recent World Pride Parade in Washington, D.C. expressed less pride in advocating for their Jewish identities out of fear for their safety “due to the ever-increasing antisemitism masked as anti-Zionism and anti-Israel sentiments.” More perplexing is the alliance between segments of the LGBTQ community and Islamists. “The alliance isn’t only paradoxical, but it’s perilous, especially given these groups documented persecutions of LGBTQIA+ individuals.”

“The alliance isn’t only paradoxical, but it’s perilous, especially given these groups documented persecutions of LGBTQIA+ individuals.”

The only way to understand such confounding cognitive dissonance is to realize the onslaught of “mind-twisting propaganda, misinformation, and purposeful disinformation” imbibed by the progressive movement over many years, and particularly within the LGBTQ community.

“The rhetoric of anti-Zionism and anti-Israel had masked the sentiments and the beliefs that are truly anti-Jewish. That’s been so normalized that now people can actually talk about Jews openly in a way that maybe wasn’t as socially acceptable.”

In resuscitating Jew-hatred by perpetuating ancient tropes, the progressive movement marginalizes and targets anyone who openly supports Israel. This phenomenon has historically emanated from the far right and has now also spread to the far left.

Those brave enough to speak up face a litany of terms meant to silence them. Progressives lob the term “pinkwashing” against pro-Israel gays who defend Zionism, accusing them of “using LGBT activism to cover up the sins of the Jewish people or of Israel.” This is a variation on the term “Islamophobia” used by Islamists to silence critics. “It’s absolutely ridiculous, and it represents their own bigotry.”

By marching in tandem with Islamists and yelling “Free Palestine,” LGBT activists and their followers are defending terror organizations and demonizing Zionists and Israel, but do practically nothing to aid the LGBT in Muslim societies internationally who are persecuted by Islamist governments. Small organizations in North America such as the Freedom House, the Rainbow Railroad, and Dignity LGBTQI try to aid LGBTQ in Islamic countries governed by Sharia law. Homosexuals in those countries are put to death, as it is written “in the Quran, Hadith, and throughout Islamic law.”

As early as 2016, Islamic fundamentalism was spreading through the LGBT milieu in the form of “‘Palestinianism,’ which is a Trojan Horse for Islamism.”

Islamist groups understood that all they needed to do was “shift the algorithm in their favor” to disseminate information to the “95 percent of the people under 45 internationally [who] receive their world news and information from TikTok and Instagram.” The Red-Green alliance of Socialist/Marxist ideology with Islamist ideology is bound by a shared hatred of Western liberal democracies. The hate speech by many American imams praising October 7 in mosques “in Michigan, in New York, in Texas,” also calls for global jihad, “and people are protecting it as free speech.”

As early as 2016, Islamic fundamentalism was spreading through the LGBT milieu in the form of “‘Palestinianism,’ which is a Trojan Horse for Islamism.” Islamist groups learned to manipulate the language of “progressive civil rights and social justice movements” to entice low-information followers to adopt the keffiyeh as “a symbol of resistance against any form of oppression.” The LGBTQ people who do not support Islamism go along out of fear of being canceled by their peers who they believe accept them. “So they try not to speak about certain issues; that is self-erasure in order to be able to exist openly.” This self-abnegating behavior could only have taken root through the “decades-long infiltration of Islamist groups within progressive movements, including the LGBT movement.”

This global issue needs to be addressed by elected officials, but sharing more factual information on social media is an effective way to counter the emotional appeal Islamists rely upon to manipulate their followers. Be informed by digesting facts on sites such as Log Cabin Republicans, Honest Reporting, or StandWithUs. Share the truth to reach the “useful idiots” because the Islamists “are engaging in purposeful disinformation and misinformation propaganda.”

Click or comment on the counter-Islamist sites because “that makes you part of the algorithm that is sharing information that needs to be shared.” Engage in the effort to “help educate the world and maybe just give them some emotions connected to it if that’s all they want to receive.”
