“Islamism in the U.K.: A Looming Civil War?” with David Betz

Islamism in the U.K.: A Looming Civil War?

Could deepening social divisions push Britain toward serious internal conflict? Professor David Betz will discuss his thesis on the risk of civil conflict in the United Kingdom, with particular attention to the role of Islamism in the West. Drawing on his research into insurgency, contemporary conflict, political violence, and societal resilience, Betz will examine the pressures facing Britain and what they may mean for the country’s future stability.

David Betz is Professor of War in the Modern World in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. His research focuses on contemporary conflict, including civil war, insurgency, information warfare, fortification, societal resilience, and political violence. He is the author of several books, most recently The Guarded Age: Fortification in the Twenty-First Century, and a frequent commentator on security, defence, and social stability.
