Middle East Forum Launches Counter-Islamist Media Platform

PHILADELPHIA – January 1, 2022 – The Middle East Forum celebrates 2022 by launching an ambitious new counter-Islamist media platform, Focus on Western Islamism (FWI), to provide a hub for a range of activities, including research, reporting, investigation, and analysis.

As much of Western media have reverted to a lack of interest reminiscent of the pre-9/11 era, lawful Islamist organizations in North America, Europe, and Australia operate with near-impunity, assisted by Turkish, Qatari, and Pakistani monies and influence. They (1) build ties with theocratic regimes, (2) fund jihadists, (3) infiltrate democratic institutions, and (4) advance radical agendas even as they (5) suppress moderate Muslim voices.

FWI will expose these many activities, uncover Islamist corruption, and highlight clashing ideological trends. It will give voice to counter-Islamist specialists and to reformist Muslims who find themselves increasingly ignored (or even attacked) by the mainstream media.

The Forum will shortly post details of job openings for a managing editor and two investigative journalists. The website is scheduled to go live on February 1, 2022.

The Middle East Forum promotes American interests in the region and protects Western civilization from Islamism. It does so through a combination of original ideas, focused activism, and the funding of allies.
