Workers on Russky Island organized disorders as they were not allowed to have alcohol on Eid al-Fitr

About 500 workers and 100 security guards participated in a conflict at the building site of the Far East Federal University on Russky Island in Vladivostok.

“Workers Muslims started beating security guards with stones because of an ordinary conflict. No one is injured, police and security automobiles are smashed, tracks on the building site are damaged,” press secretary of the Far East branch of the general building contractor Yekaterina Chernenko said.

The incident happened on Monday night when a security guard prohibited three workers to bring alcohol to the territory of the community residence.

“There’s a dry law on the building site. We intensified supervision during the Muslim feast - end of Ramadan. Perhaps workers didn’t like this ban, it unsteadied their nerves and the whole Muslim community from six residences came out to clear it out with security guards,” Chernenko said.

About ten people from both sides were injured during the conflict.
