There has actually been more forthright commentary about the Woolwich attack from French politicians than from British politicians. Here are some remarks made by Jacques Myard, an MP in the UMP party (Sarkozy’s party, mainstream right-wing).
”...In a world that has become totally transnational, without borders, we now need to recgonise that Islamist assassins are a fifth column present in all the suburbs of Europe.”
The MP calls for “drawing all the conclusions” from this murder, “on the legal level, with regards to nationality and procedures for being stripped of it, but also with regard to the communitarian tendencies which can no longer be tolerated.”
“Let us look reality in the face. If not, the worst is to be feared in future. Civil war is waiting for us.”
