EDL founder Tommy Robinson fears his fellow inmates at Hull Prison have put a “price on his head” and are offering rewards to anyone who will attack and kill him, his lawyer has said.
Robinson was sentenced to 13 months in jail for contempt of court after he breached a suspended sentence when he broadcast a Facebook Live outside an ongoing trial.
The video, which was watched more than 250,000 times, included Robinson reading out prejudicial and incorrect comments about the charges the defendants in the trial at Leeds Crown Court.
He was arrested and sentenced on Friday, with a judge telling Robinson his actions could cost taxpayers “hundreds of thousands of pounds” if it forced the trial to be abandoned.
