Palin on Ground Zero mosque flap and ‘peace-seeking Muslims’

Sarah Palin, who waded into a New York political fight by endorsing Ann Marie Buerkle in NY-25, is drifting into a decidedly higher-charged battle - the fray over the planned mosque near Ground Zero.

“Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing,” she tweeted about an hour ago.

UPDATE: Palin has taken a few bites of this apple, as it were, in her tweets, before settling on the current language. The use of “refudiate,” a new word to my personal lexicon, appears to have been part of earlier attempts (via Ben).

UPDATEx2: Palin embraces the “refudiate” discussion that ensued in the blogosphere (and where it was noted that she’s not only used the word before, but it’s become incorporated in the urban dictionary.

Here was her tweet: “ ‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!’

Wee-wee’d up is an Obamaism, Misunderestimate is George W. Bush.

Also worth noting, with the issue of the Ground Zero mosque, that a recent public poll showed most New Yorkers don’t support having it built there.
