The bid for mosque construction in the Votanikos district of the Greek capital Athens has not yielded a result yet.
Sources claimed that the bid was obstructed by the reactions of the residents of the region, some of who allegedly filed appeals to the council of state.
On the other hand, Infrastructure Ministry Secretary General Stratos Simopulos announced a 950,000 euro-bid would be opened within 10-15 days, sources said.
Muslims in Athens started Ramadan crestfallenly. Having been struggling to have a mosque in the city, they welcomed Ramadan with the first Tarawih prayer in airless basements.
