Mother and daughter on terror charge asked to lift face veils by judge

A mother and daughter covered their faces with burkas as they appeared in court accused of being part of the UK’s first ever all-female terror plot.

Rizlaine Boular, 21, and her mother Mina Dich, 43, are accused of plotting with nursery volunteer Khawla Barghouthi, 20, to carry out a terrorist attack on British soil.

Boular was shot by anti-terror police during a raid on Barghouthi’s home in Harlesden Road, north London, on April 27, when police swooped on the women.

It is said Boular was the leader of the alleged terror plot, assisted by the other two women. They are all three accused of conspiracy to murder.

Boular and her mother appeared in the dock at Westminster magistrates court this morning wearing burkas covering their whole faces.

Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot asked them to lift their veils to reveal their eyes when they were identified in the dock. Barghouthi is wearing a niqab with her face showing.

She remanded all three women in custody until the next hearing at the Old Bailey on May 19.

Barghouthi, of Harlesden Road, and Boular and Dich, from St George’s Wharf, are all accused of conspiracy to murder and engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts.
