Moroccan banks becoming more active in the Netherlands

Moroccan banks are becoming more active in the Netherlands.

Two Moroccan banks are planning to expand their activities in the Netherlands this year significantly, reports the Dutch newspaper Parool Wednesday afternoon.

Chaabi Bank, market leader in Morocco and the Attijariwafa Bank, the third bank in the country, have their Dutch headquarters in Amsterdam.

De Nederlandsche Bank still needs to give the Attijariwafa Bank permission to be active in the Netherlands.

The bank wants to open a separate department for Islamic banking, which no interest is calculated.

Chaabi Bank also wants to become involved this form of banking. Both banks already have a banking license in France, writes the newspaper.

The banks also offer regular products. The Moroccan banks try to meet the growing demand of Moroccans in the Netherlands.
