A speaker on the lineup for Mae Beavers’ controversial summit on Islam has announced the event is now canceled, though Beavers reports she is still attempting to find a venue.
The Republican gubernatorial candidate was scheduled to hold a “Homeland Security Summit” Jan. 25 at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Amid criticism from both community members and organizations like the American Muslim Advisory Council and Council on American-Islamic Relations, on Wednesday the Christian university announced the event would no longer be taking place on its campus.
Bill French, who writes under the pen name Bill Warner, tweeted Thursday that the summit “has now been cancelled thanks to the stealthy work” of CAIR and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
