A Calgary Imam is speaking out against the foreign policies he says are allowing ISIS to recruit Canadian fighters.
Syed Soharwardy says policies being used by the western world, especially the U.S, are allowing radicals to justify their violence against innocent people.
The religious leader was in Lethbridge on Thursday, to speak on the subject.
He tells City News, he hopes a meeting between the local Muslim community and Police Thursday will be the first move in stopping these extremists.
“Imams and the Muslim community, absolutely is a step in the right direction. We were asking for this for a long time, and finally it is happening. So, it is the law enforcement agency, the community, Muslim community, and other communities within Canada that have to work together,” he said.
Soharwardy says we can fight the violence as long as we are honest, sincere, and fair with everyone.
