A federal judge has eased computer restrictions for the Northville doctor charged in the nation’s landmark female genital mutilation case.

Judge Bernard Friedman of U.S. District Court in Detroit on Tuesday changed bond conditions for Jumana Nagarwala, granting her permission to watch on a computer livestreamed religious sermons related to upcoming holidays of the Muslim sect, Dawoodi Bohra, which she belongs to. Conditions are that she must utilize a device approved by the court’s pre-trial services and have her third party custodian present.

According to court records, Nagarwala requested to watch religious programming for four hours Aug. 20, eight hours per day Sept. 11-19 and 10 hours on Sept. 20, specifying times the sermons will livestream.
