France denies claims Trump told Macron ‘all the terrorists are in Paris’ at G7 meeting

The Elysee Palace on Sunday categorically denied claims US President Donald Trump had told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that Paris is a hotbed of jihadists.

“We firmly deny [the claims]. [The story] is completely false,” Mr Macron’s office told the AFP news agency after The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Mr Trump had told the French centrist that “all the terrorists are in Paris”.

Mr Trump made the remarks in private conversations with world leaders at the strained G7 meeting of wealthy nations in Canada earlier this month, a senior European Union official told the American newspaper.

The Paris comment was made during a discussion about terrorism and Iran, during which Mr Trump said the French leader “should know” about the subject at hand because of ongoing threats to France by Islamic terrorist groups.
