Dr. Mark Christian spoke Tuesday at the Oklahoma State Capitol at a meeting sponsored by state Rep. John Bennett.
Christian gave a short lecture, entitled: “Islam & Christianity: A Former Muslim’s Perspective.” Born in Egypt and raised Muslim, Christian converted to Christianity in 2003 and moved to the United States.
“With the rise of the Islamic State, there are many honest questions about this subject that need honest answers,” said Bennett, R-Sallisaw. “Dr. Christian’s credibility is unquestioned. Having been born an Egyptian, he cannot be called a racist. Having been raised a Muslim and trained in Islam, he cannot be accused of religious bigotry. He is able to share in Arabic or English the differences and similarities between the Western and Islamic world views that we need to understand.”
Groomed from boyhood to become an influential leader of the Muslim faith, Christian was afforded unparalleled exposure to the ideology of Islam, and the stringent creed of Sharia law. This exposure was gained through his remarkable experiences as the constant companion and confidante of his father, a wealthy doctor, devout imam, and persuasive advisor for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt - and through his uncle, who, during the massive imprisonment of the Muslim Brotherhood members in Egypt in 1965, shared a cell with Sayyid Qutb, the revered and infamous ideologue for the Brotherhood’s movement.
During medical school, as Christian began intensive study and preparation to become an Islamic religious leader, he began seeking answers regarding the fundamental tenets of Islam, a query which – though vehemently opposed – resulted in a quest which, after years of deliberation, ultimately led to his conversion to Christianity in March of 2003.
“I believe ISIS, CAIR and other Muslim Brotherhood front groups overseas and in America are content on destroying our nation as we know it,” Bennett said. “All these groups have proven ties to terrorism and proven to be front groups for terrorists. It is imperative that we educate our lawmakers and citizens to ensure this threat doesn’t spread and consume the Oklahoma we know and the freedoms we enjoy. Myself and Pastor Blair have educated our citizens throughout Oklahoma only to be called racist, bigots and Islamaphobes, for exposing the truth about Islam. To ensure we silence the opponents of the truth we have been teaching about Islam and terrorism, we brought in Dr. Mark Christian who was a Muslim and his credentials and credibility is unquestioned. CAIR and other organizations cannot accuse him of being an Islamaphobe, bigot or racist. The brief was very well attended by state representatives, senators and guests.”
