Boston imam Shaykh Yasir Fahmy to deliver invocation at Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker’s ‘State of the Commonwealth speech’

The senior imam at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, Shaykh Yasir Fahmy, is scheduled to deliver the invocation at the 2018 State of the Commonwealth address.

Gov. Charlie Baker, R-Swampscott, is set to deliver the address at 7 p.m. Expected topics include the bipartisan nature of his work with the Democrat-dominated state Legislature and efforts to slow the opioid epidemic.

Fahmy, who is part of the largest mosque in New England, plans to speak about interfaith and intercultural harmony “during times of divisiveness,” according to a release from the ISBCC.
