Religious leaders throughout Central Indiana have denounced an anti-Muslim billboard that disparages the Prophet Muhammad and "stokes fear and anger toward his followers."

The men and women of different faiths sat side by side during a news conference Friday at the Indiana Interchurch Center in Indianapolis. They condemned the billboard and called for religious tolerance and understanding.

"This particular instance may be against Muslims," said John Clark, an Evangelical Christian who is director of development for the Center for Interfaith Cooperation, "but if anyone is threatened or vulnerable, we all are."

It was the leaders' actions Friday, rather than their words, that exemplified their commitment to supporting a diverse faith community.
