American Imam Compares School Shooting to U.S., Israeli Military

Never one to miss an opportunity to bring attention to the Islamist cause, American Imam Zaid Shakir says that the school shooting in Newton, Connecticut should “serve as a reminder” of what’s happening to children in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere. The statement compares the massacre to U.S. and Israeli military operations.

Shakir is one of the founders of Zaytuna College, America’s first Muslim college, where he serves as a lecturer and chairman of the board. He is a sought-after speaker for mosques and Islamic events, especially those put together by groups originating with the Muslim Brotherhood.

As RadicalIslam.org has documented, Shakir characterizes U.S. military operations as campaigns of murder, rape, oppression and disregard for civilian life. A poem he wrote in April serves as a perfect example.

Shakir’s message was as follows:

Salaam Alaikum Everyone,

May the long overdue calls to address the causes of the terrible and unnecessary violence visited upon the children of Newtown, CT, serve as a reminder to us that terrible and unnecessary violence is being visited upon children in places like Gaza, Afghanistan, Pakistan, The Congo, and Syria, not to mention the inner-city communities of our country.

Violence against our children, whoever the perpetrators may be, is not a white problem or a black problem, a suburban problem or an inner-city problem, an American problem or an international problem. It is a human problem and we are all responsible to help to find solutions to it.
