Fancy dress costumes available through Amazon depicting Mexicans, Arabs and burkas have sparked outrage over claims they are racist and religiously offensive.
Items available through third parties on the retail website include a traditional Arab costume which appears to be modelled by a white man.
It provoked howls of protest in the product’s online reviews, with one person writing: “You’re all disgusting racists.”
Another complained: “A persons culture is NOT a fancy dress costume.”
Other items available to buy include a burka and an Orthodox Jewish black hat complete with long curly sideburns.
Also on the site is a men’s Jesus robe costume, modelled by a man wearing a fake beard and long flowing hair.
The page tells potential customers: “Everyone will be telling you their hopes and fears when you become the King of Kings at your next party.”
One punter wrote: “Have you ever thought that wearing this kind of “costumes” might be -actually- racist?
“Have you ever thought that making fun of people’s heritage and traditions might not be that funny?
“I have not seen kilts sold as “costumes”... How weird!”
However, some customers have defended the costumes, saying it all depends on the context in which they are worn.
Amazon declined to comment.
