Hundreds of girls and women in Cardiff have been victims of female genital mutilation, it has been revealed.
New figures show that over the last year, until October 2017, 203 women living in the Cardiff and Vale University health board area were recorded as having suffered the effects of FGM.
Across Wales, there are an estimated 2,000 women in Wales living with the effects of FGM.
It is feared that many are sent abroad during the holidays to undergo the traumatic surgery, which is illegal for non medical reasons in the UK.
