A coalition of 22 liberal organizations is pushing tech giants to promise not to help President-elect Trump create a registry of American Muslims if he pursues such in initiative once in office.
The possibility is one of Trump's "most chilling proposals," the groups, who claim to represent 35 million Americans, wrote to companies like Google, Facebook and IBM Tuesday.
So far, the response has been meager. Only Twitter responded that it wouldn't help with the registry. Microsoft said it would not engage in hypotheticals, and the rest have yet to answer.
"Within just two weeks of the election, a member of the Trump transition team was photographed carrying a document entitled 'Plan for First 365 Days,' which listed an updated registration program as one of his top priorities," the letters state.
