Islamist Watch is Seeking Interns, Writers and Citizen Volunteers

Islamist Watch, a project of the Middle East Forum, works to combat the ideas and institutions of non-violent Islamism in the United States and throughout the West. Arguing that “radical Islam is the problem, reform Islam is the solution,” Islamist Watch seeks to expose those Islamist organizations that currently dominate the Muslim community.

Much of our work involves monitoring the activities of Islamist movements across the United States. Every week, we gather enormous amounts of information about Islamist clerics, activists, charities and community groups, which helps us to inform policy-makers about the dangers of radical Islam, write hard-hitting articles, and publish ground-breaking reports.

Gathering this information, however, is hard work. But you, our readers and supporters, can help our efforts from your own homes. We are looking for volunteers, interns and writers to assist us with our work. By choosing one of the roles outlined below, help us track and defeat radical Islam in America.

Islamist Watch Seeks Intelligence-Gathering Volunteers

If you want to gather information about Islamist activity in your area, we welcome your involvement and are keen to hear from you.

Just a few volunteer hours of online research a week can be of immense help to Islamist Watch. We’ll teach you how to research Islamist activity in your area, how to uncover new information using open-source research techniques, and how to record your findings.

If interested in helping us fight radical Islam in your area, please get in touch. Send an email introducing yourself to islamist-watch@meforum.org.

Islamist Watch Seeks Paid Writers

Islamist Watch writers produce rigorously researched articles for general audiences. Their work helps Islamist Watch to expose Western Islamism—one extremist cleric, activist, seminary, and organization at a time.

We publish these articles in publications from around the world – from the American Spectator and National Review to Canada’s National Post and Pakistan’s Dunya News.

When published, Islamist Watch writers are paid for their work.

If you agree with MEF’s outlook that radical Islam is the problem, reform Islam is the solution, and you have experience and interest in writing, we hope to hear from you.

Introduce yourself, send us any pitches if you have them, at submissions@meforum.org

Islamist Watch Seeks Unpaid Interns

Islamist Watch interns help us with big research projects – from mapping Islamist networks to uncovering Islamist Money in Politics. Our volunteers learn about the leading Islamist movements active in America today, help us pore through the large amounts of data we gather, learn how to gather open source intelligence, and write blog posts and articles, some of which we publish in prominent national publications.

Interns are unpaid, and most work remotely. Former Middle East Forum interns have gone on to own businesses with interests in the Middle East; join the professional staff of the U.S. House (Foreign Affairs Committee, Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade Subcommittee); serve as officers in the U.S. Army; and write for Fox News and The Wall Street Journal.

If you wish to intern at Islamist Watch, e-mail your cover letter and resume to Thelma Prosser, prosser@meforum.org – using the subject line “Islamist Watch Internship.”

PHILADELPHIA – August 20, 2024 – A member of Maryland’s “Commission on Hate Crimes Response and Prevention” is out of a job. Ayman Nassar, the second Islamist commissioner to get tossed from the hate crimes board within three months, resigned on August 19 amid public outrage over his role in terror-linked organizations and his history of anti-American, antisemitic, and homophobic hate speech.

Nassar has accused Israel of harvesting the organs of living Palestinians and shared posts referring to Gaza as a “Holocaust.” He is chairman of the Aafia Foundation, a “terrorist support group” that seeks to free “Lady Al Qaeda” Aafia Siddiqui and other convicted terrorists from prison.
PHILADELPHIA – July 31, 2024 – Hours after Israel assassinated two leading figures of designated terrorist organizations, Middle East Forum (MEF) experts took to major media outlets to explain what the killings mean for Israel and the region.

Israeli forces killed Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukur in Beirut on Tuesday, while Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh died Wednesday from an Israeli strike in Tehran. Both men caused the deaths of innocent civilians as well as Israeli and American soldiers.

Writing today for the Wall Street Journal, MEF president Daniel Pipes argued that since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attacks, Israel has unfortunately followed “two opposite policies” simultaneously: “destroy the organization and make a deal with it.”
