Why Doesn’t the Middle East Studies Association Want ISIS Documents to Come Out?

The Middle East Studies Association (MESA) continues to oppose the dissemination of ISIS documents recovered from Iraq and reported on by the New York Times. Now it’s criticizing George Washington University’s decision to partner with the NYT to create a public online “ISIS files” archive. Why prevent the public from learning more about the deadly terrorist group? MESA claims it’s a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, but shutting down discussion of jihadist ideology is the likelier culprit.
