The San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) if partnering with the terrorist-tied CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) in an effort to fight bullying and “Islamophobia” at schools – a secretive, informal alliance over which five families are suing the district.
Parents disclosed evidence in the lawsuit that SDUSD did not cancel its CAIR “anti-Islamophobia” program as it claimed – exposing information that school officials are continuing their relationship with the Muslim group that has already been exposed for its ties and involvement in Islamic terrorism.
“The families filed a motion in the case Tuesday asking for a temporary order to halt the initiative and the San Diego Unified School District’s partnership with CAIR – a group founded by members of the [terrorist group] Muslim Brotherhood – according to FBI evidence presented in a Hamas-funding case in which CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator,” WND reported. “The Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund (FCDF), which is representing the families, cited documents obtained in a public-records request that show district officials – including Superintendent Cynthia Marten – met with CAIR officials to continue the relationship informally on the same day the board voted to end it last summer.”
Covert alliance?
The district’s pro-Islam partnership was brought to public attention last year, exposing the SDUSD’s controversial teachings that many angry parents contended were intended to portray Islam and its jihadist teachings in a biased and deceptively favorable light.
"[T]he families filed suit in May 2017 against the ‘anti-Islamophobia’ campaign, which was launched the previous month featuring curriculum and materials published by CAIR,” WND’s Art Moore recounted. “FCDF later revised its complaint to focus on CAIR’s radical Islamic origin. The complaint asserted the school district’s partnership with CAIR violated the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment and California law. Last week, a federal judge objected to a reference to CAIR’s terrorist ties in the complaint, saying it was ‘impertinent, immaterial and scandalous,’ designed only to ‘inflame the public.’”
After reviewing the materials and teachings, it was discovered that the anti-Islamophobia curriculum adopted and implemented by San Diego public schools was more about giving special privileges to Muslim students and indoctrinating students to view Islam with a pro-Muslim perspective – without giving a realistic take on jihad and the truth behind Islamic terrorism.
“The program – the families argued – singled out Muslim students for special accommodations and called for changes to school curricula to make it more favorable to Islam,” Moore noted. “It also allowed CAIR officials into classrooms to teach students about Islam and ‘how to be allies’ to Muslim students.”
It was also divulged that taxpayer money was used to pay the Islamic group for school supplies from CAIR, which is often referred to as the “Muslim mafia.”
“The district [also] purchased thousands of dollars of CAIR’s recommended teaching materials, which were then distributed to the schools,” Moore added.
Citizens for Quality Education San Diego and the San Diego Asian Americans for Equality Foundation are two local organizations that joined the families in the lawsuit against the SDUSD because officials did not sever their ties with the controversial Muslim group, as promised.
“The board officially voted to end the initiative at a July 2017 meeting, adopting a new policy that focuses on protecting all students,” Moore informed. “But the newly obtained documents show the relationship continues, FCDF said,”
It was pointed out in the lawsuit that Muslim students are to receive preferential treatment over students practicing other faiths.
“FCDF’s brief argues that the ‘anti-Islamophobia initiative’ considers ‘it is a far graver sin for a bully to tug on a Muslim student’s hijab than it is to knock off a Jewish student’s kippah,’” Moore pointed out. “It charges the district has chosen ‘to politicize the schoolchildren entrusted to their care rather than cut ties with a notorious sectarian association.’ The brief says the district’s claim that the campaign is meant to protect all students from bullying is ‘Orwellian,’ because, to echo Orwell’s Animal Farm, the program effectively amounts to ‘all students are equal, but some students are more equal than others.’”
Focus on what unifies ...
FCDF President and Chief Counsel Charles LiMandri stressed that schools should focus on the equality they enjoy under the United States Constitution – and not concentrate on differences in race and religion ... as many so-called “tolerance” programs teach under the flag of the divisive curricula often referred to as “Multiculturalism.”
"[The SDUSD is one of the most diverse in America, but] our nation is not divided by race or religion, but united by the sacred principles enshrined in the Constitution,” LiMandri proclaimed, according to WND. “Among these principles are government neutrality in religion and the right of every American, including schoolchildren, to equality under the law. Unfortunately, this politically correct ‘anti-Islamophobia initiative’ runs roughshod over those principles.”
According to the brief, SDUSD used smoke and mirrors to obscure its ongoing and proliferating relationship with the terrorist-tied Islamic group.
"[D]espite public statements to the contrary, [the district has strengthened its partnership with CAIR],” the brief – which was filed Tuesday – reads, according to WND. “CAIR’s religious agenda is irrefutable; its divisiveness is undeniable. And strikingly, it prowls the schools not as a wolf in sheep’s clothing – in Justice Scalia’s words, ‘this wolf comes as a wolf.’ Yet the wool is not being pulled over Defendants’ eyes.’”
It was impressed by LiMandri that the SDUSD is not properly protecting its students from the Muslim group that is notorious for igniting racial and religious tensions amongst Americans.
"[The district] has a constitutional obligation to keep divisive forces like CAIR outside of its schools,” the lead FCDF attorney argued, stressing that leaders at CAIR testified in court about their “religious obligation” to make every attempt to convert students to Islam.
Fooling the SDUSD but not the FBI
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) acknowledged CAIR’s involvement in Islamic terrorism and has severed its relationship a decade ago with the Muslim group – one that claims its mission is to promote unity and understanding in the name of Islam.
“The FBI has provided an abundance of evidence that CAIR is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood and its Palestinian branch, Hamas,” Moore recalled. “And even a Persian Gulf state, the United Arab Emirates, has designated the Washington, D.C.-based organization a terrorist group, putting it in the same category as al-Qaida and ISIS.”
This fact was not ignored in the current lawsuit against the SDUSD.
“The complaint points out that the FBI cut off non-investigative contact with CAIR in 2008,” Moore explained. “The bureau, at the time, explained that ‘until we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and Hamas, the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner.’”
But CAIR has made every attempt to keep its ties to Islamic terrorism under wraps.
“The FBI’s evidence of CAIR’s ties to Hamas was presented in a Hamas-funding case in which CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator.” Moore added. “CAIR has sued the authors of a WND Books exposé, Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America, which documented the group’s radical ties.”
Based on the FBI continuing to keep its distance from CAIR, it is evident that the Muslim group has done little to nothing to clean up its terrorist-sponsoring ways.
“The bureau’s non-contact policy remains in effect, FCDF points out, which is relevant because CAIR has made ‘prioritized public schools as ground zero to advance its religious mission,’” Moore noted. “The school district, in effect, gave ‘a divisive religious group ... unprecedented decision-making authority’ in a public school program.”
Yet pro-Muslim sentiment in the U.S. justice system still tends to give CAIR the benefit of the doubt – despite evidence working against it.
“But last week, U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashant argued that CAIR’s relationship with Hamas, ‘whether true or not,’ predates its work with the school district and is ‘superfluous historical allegations that should be stricken,’ reported IPT,” Moore continued. “The judge did, however, preserve provisions in FCDF’s amended complaint concerning CAIR’s hostility to Israel and allegations it ‘promotes discriminatory bias against non-Muslim students on the basis of their religion.’ The judge said that while these assertions may be ‘distasteful’ and ‘unsavory,’ those provisions could call into question the ‘objectivity and accuracy’ of CAIR-provided instructional materials.”
But the SDUSU has always planted a positive image of CAIR in its students’ – and the community’s – minds.
"[W]hen the San Diego school board partnered with CAIR, it touted it as an organization that ‘has been involved in constructive civic engagement, promotes cultural tolerance and understanding, as well as justice and equality,’” Moore recalled.
This sentiment was also expressed by the San Diego director of CAIR, who announced that he desired SDUSD’s anti-Islamophobia program to become a model for the entire nation to follow.
“The plan itself is a great first step,” the director told the SDUSD School Board last April, according to WND. “I truly believe that if we do this right, San Diego Unified School District would be the leading school district in the nation to come up with a robust and beautiful anti-bullying and anti-Islamophobia program.”
Not just in California ...
Southern California is not the only place in America where parents are fuming about their students being indoctrinated in Islam.
When sixth graders at Alston Middle School in Summerville, South Carolina, were assigned a worksheet titled “The Five Pillars of Islam,” to test their working knowledge of Islam’s holy book, the Quran, parents decided that they had enough, according a report from WCSC-TV last February.
“One section of the worksheet instructed students to match certain passages from the Quran with the Pillar it most closely supports,” TheBlaze reported. “One of the questions in that section quoted a verse from the Quran, which reads: ‘Allah: There is no god but Him, the Living, the Eternal One. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him.’ The correct corresponding pillar was for that particular passage was the first Pillar of Islam, which states, ‘Proclaim there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his Prophet.’”
And the indoctrinating teaching did not stop there, as a fill-in-the-blank section attempted to engrain in students a pro-Muslim way of looking at Islam without properly addressing jihad.
“One statement, once completed, referred to Islam as a ‘religion of peace.” TheBlaze’s Jon Street pointed out. “Another blank instructed students to say how Muslims feel that ‘a few people of my religion committed terrorist acts.’ Pupils were also asked to circle whether Muslims ‘do’ or ‘do not’ believe in ‘terrorists’ idea of a ‘holy war.’”
This did not sit well with many parents, as one enraged parent said that many others stood behind her opposition to the Islamic teachings.
“Our concern is that if they need permission to teach sexual education, they should be getting permission to teach religious values,” the concerned parent emphasized at the time, according to the local Live 5 News.
However, Dorchester District II Spokeswoman Patricia Raynor claimed that sixth graders were taught about different working parts of the community in their “Survey of Civilization” class, which includes lesson focusing on religion, geography and economic structure.
“Worksheets on all these features of a civilization are used as teaching tools – including all religions involved,” Raynor expressed in a statement, according to Live 5 News. “One of the next civilizations beings studied in the course will be ancient Rome that will include the study of Christianity. South Carolina curriculum standards specify the material covered in this study of civilizations. This curriculum is taught in all school districts in South Carolina.”
