Middle East Forum Among Eighty Organizations Asking UMass Not to Sponsor Anti-Israel Confab

The Middle East Forum---of which Campus Watch is a project---is among eighty organizations that have signed an AMCHA Initiative letter asking the University of Massachusetts (UMass) to rescind all named university sponsorship of next month’s panel discussion, “Not Backing Down: Israel, Free Speech & the Battle for Palestinian Rights.”

Featuring notorious anti-Israel activists, such as Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill, Linda Sarsour, and Roger Waters, the event is being sponsored by the University’s Department of Communication; the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; and the Resistance Studies Initiative UMass.

AMCHA’s letter also asks for assurances that “in the future, UMass faculty will not be permitted to use the university’s name or resources to promote their personal political agendas at the expense of academic integrity and the safety and well-being of UMass students.”
