K-12 Textbooks Are ‘Islamophobic’?

Amid an avalanche of complaints from parents that their children’s school textbooks are infused with Islamic supremacism, NYU Abu Dhabi graduate Melissa Levinson claims that K-12 textbooks are “emblematic of how enshrined Islamophobia has become in American culture.” She objects, in particular, to the textbooks’ portrayal of the Middle East as a region that has “declined into chaos, oppression, and violence.” Perhaps there is hope for K-12 education after all.
