Islam Created Western Philosophy?

Tehran Times is running a series of interviews with Western scholars who credit Islam for Western philosophy. First, it was St. Olaf College’s Charles Taliaferro (“The encounter between western and Islamic philosophy in the Middle Ages was perhaps the most momentous engagements of intellectual cultures in the history of ideas.”) and now it’s Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts professor Kevin Richards (“You don’t get the Renaissance without the contributions of Islamic scholars.”). How convenient.
