A Professor of public policy at Rutgers University declared his candidacy for the Iranian Presidency. After fundraising from New York to California to Dubai, he’s getting ready to head to Iran next month.
Hooshang Amirahmadi has lived in America for 40 years. It’s where he met his wife and raised his daughter. He feels compelled, he says, as an Iranian American to run for President of Iran to try to heal the rifts between Iran and the U.S.
Amirahmadi: “I’m trying to help. The U.S./Iran relations have been in trouble for some years. Iranian people are suffering and the Iranian expatriates, Iranians all over the world and Americans and Europeans and everybody else certainly has a stake in a better Iran.”
Amirahmadi, who visits Iran often says he is running within the Islamic Republic’s system of leadership by the Muslim Clerics of Mullahs, not trying to change it.
