Covenant Day Student Attends Arabic Program

Lucas Godley, a junior at Covenant Day School in Matthews, has been accepted to attend a highly competitive Arabic immersion summer program, the Federal Service Language Academy, at North Georgia State University.

The Georgia FSLA is designed to provide students with the fundamentals of languages it deems crucial for national security, including Arabic, Chinese, Russian, French and German.

Lucas is also taking French III this summer and has been nationally ranked in French for the past two years, as well as the recipient of gold medals in Latin for the past four years.

“I am very interested in studying Arabic,” he says, “and hope to study it in college. Not only will the FSLA give me a head start with the language, but it could help prepare me for possible service with the federal government down the road.”
