Campus Watch Responds:

In a blog post celebrating the demise of the "Anti-Racist Blog," which ceased operating on March 22, 2008, Paul Abowd, brother of radical Wayne State University anthropology professor Thomas Abowd, insults Campus Watch while incorrectly stating that Anti-Racist Blog:

cross-lists its posts on the notorious Daniel Pipes project called Campus Watch.

First, Abowd's description of Campus Watch as "notorious" reveals far more about his political center of gravity than it does about CW. We critique professors of Middle East studies who politicize their classroom and campuses by engaging in agitprop and protests in lieu of providing their students and their field with reasoned, rational scholarship and teaching.

Moreover, neither Anti-Racist Blog (ARB) nor any other blog cross-lists posts at Campus Watch. Rather, we archive blog posts that feature news and information on Middle East studies, and some of the posts at ARB fit that bill. But the decision to post them was strictly ours, and at no time were these items cross-listed.
