Congress Asks DOE to Investigate Taxpayer-Funded Anti-Israel Gaza/UNC Conference

In response to growing outrage over the anti-Israel, anti-Semitic Duke/UNC “Conflict Over Gaza” conference in March, Rep. George Holding is petitioning the Education Department to find out how $235,000 in taxpayer dollars were used to fund the one-sided event.

The conference, which featured a Palestinian rapper performing an anti-Semitic song and pro-BDS academics such as Harvard University professor Sara Roy, was co-sponsored by the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies and funded, reportedly, by a $235,000 DOE grant.

It coincided with a series of anti-Israel events on both campuses, including “Israeli Apartheid Week,” and not coincidentally, was followed by the appearance of anti-Semitic posters at UNC.
