On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, The Humanities Center at Wayne State University presented a lecture by Assistant Professor of Anthropology, Thomas Abowd, entitled "Colonizing Palestine: The Politics of Place and Nation Under Israeli Military Rule."
Professor Abowd is well known on the Wayne State University campus, and to readers of Anti-Racist Blog, for his anti-Israel rhetoric (see 1, 2). Many of you may specifically remember that Professor Abowd was the only professor who spoke at a rally organized by the anti-Israel/anti-America (and many would say anti-Semitic) group ARA/WSU, to protest the recent Daniel Pipes lecture at Wayne State University.
More than one person who heard the lecture yesterday was frustrated with Professor Abowd's failure to adequately define the term "colonialism," which he accused Israelis of practicing. Fortunately, you can generate your own opinion on the lecture because someone in attendance was kind enough to send Anti-Racist Blog a recording. After listening to the lecture, write in with your thoughts.
